Academic Excellence at New Tech High School at B.F. Darrell

At our A-rated School of Choice in Dallas ISD, we are proud to offer a dynamic and rigorous academic program that prepares students for success in college, career, and beyond. Through Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the AVID college readiness system, our students develop critical 21st-century skills and take ownership of their learning.

We are honored to be recognized as an AVID National Demonstration Campus and the recipient of the 2025 AVID Excellence in Education Award, a testament to our commitment to academic excellence and student achievement. Additionally, we are proud to be named the #1 Gold Ribbon School in North Dallas—and the only school to receive this distinction two years in a row (2023 & 2024).

Our academic program includes:

• Career-aligned CTE pathways in Animation, Gaming, Film, and Modern Band, with opportunities to earn industry-based certifications

• Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit classes for college-level learning

• Unique integrated courses like Imagine Algebra (Algebra + Robotics) and Imagine U.S. History (History + Journalism)

We use Echo, the New Tech Network's learning management system, to track student progress through School-Wide Learning Outcomes (SWLOs):

• Knowledge & Thinking – 55%

• Written Communication – 20%

• Oral Communication – 15%

• Collaboration – 5%

• Agency – 5%

Grades are posted in PowerSchool at progress and report card periods. Parents can check their child’s progress daily through the Echo Parent Account.
