AVID
Mission Statement:
“AVID's mission is to close the close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.”
What is AVID?
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college and career readiness program designed to support all students—especially those traditionally underrepresented in higher education—by providing them with the skills, strategies, and support needed to succeed in rigorous academic courses and prepare for life after high school. AVID focuses on building critical thinking, organization, collaboration, and leadership skills, while also creating a strong college-going culture on campus. We are proud to be recognized as an AVID National Demonstration School, the first high school in Dallas ISD to earn this prestigious distinction. This means our school serves as a model for implementing AVID with fidelity and excellence, showcasing how AVID strategies are embedded into everyday instruction to help all students thrive academically and prepare for college and career success.
What will students learn in AVID?
In AVID, students learn a wide range of academic and life skills that help them succeed in school and prepare for college and careers. Key areas of focus include:

-
