Ms. Jennifer Hatcher

Profile Written by Student Journalist, Nettaly Mezquita:

Jennifer Hatcher is an instructional coach and the one and only journalism teacher here at New Tech High School. This is her fourth year here at New Tech and her 22nd year of her teaching career. She went to Baylor University in Waco and she has a bachelor’s in arts degree, she majored in religion, and has a minor in english. The hardest part of her job is: “Finding balance because I have lots of responsibilities.” She spends her free time watching her son play baseball and playing games with her family. She also loves animals and has two cats and three dogs. She is a big part of New Tech, having one of the most important jobs, and we wish that she stays here for many years to come.

Ms. Cristina Guzman

Profile by Student Journalist Skip Reynoso:

Instructional coach Ms.Guzman is inspired by her kids and her childhood experiences of having a teacher that impacted her life during tough times. Ms.Guzman wishes to impact a current student’s life the same way a teacher positively affected hers. Her advice to students who aspire to be an instructional coach is, “Think outside the box, adapt to different situations, and be aware that you will have to wear many hats.” A few examples that were given about being an instructional coach are contacting parents, setting up small groups for students, and getting ready for STAAR testing that will take place towards the end of the school year. Above all, Ms.Guzman is one to come to for extra support and inspiration.
