Assistant Director/Principal

Mrs. Michelle Carter
Greetings New Tech Parents and Community,
Hello,
My name is Michelle Carter, your new assistant principal. I believe teachers are the heartbeat of our educational system. As your assistant principal my role is to help, coach, and inspire teachers to lift our students to their highest potential.
I am transitioning out of the role of ELAR demonstration teacher at Sunset High where I facilitated HB1416 tutoring, coordinated the district’s new teacher mentorship program, led PLCs, as well as coached and observed teachers.
As an assistant principal at Uplift charter, I oversaw attendance initiatives, appraised English, math, and PE and authored the school’s professional development plan.
Two of my favorite educational sayings are, “Instruction is my jam” and “The data tells the story.”
In my free time, I am the proud mother of two athletic boys whose games keep me on the run. I cook complete, Southern meals several times a week, often waking at 5am to cook to make sure my boys get a home cooked meal, and I have been married 20 years! I love 90s rock and rap (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers- when RUN DMC kicked down the wall with Aerosmith in “Walk This Way,” it changed my life), and am extremely active in my church. This is my second year in Dallas ISD, and it is a pleasure to serve New Tech!
