Ms. Amanda Yaden: Department Chair
Amanda Yaden has been teaching math for 14 years now. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Math & Biology and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University, along with a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics from Emporia State University.
When asked about her experience here at New Tech, Ms. Yaden says that she was amazed by how the teachers really strive to have some of the best lessons she has ever seen. "I’m also very impressed with how the students try to step up and really try to go that extra step for their projects by making sure they meet up with each other, and that it’s a very open and supportive school.” When asked if she valued student-teacher relationships she said, “Yes, I do; student-teacher relationships are important, because if the students don’t know that the teacher is there to support them and help them, then they’re less likely to come and ask for help in things they don’t know. Meaning there is no growth.” She greatly respects her students and co-workers, and sees a lot of potential at this school.
Ms. Yaden also manages the Flex Wednesday program on campus and is a member of the Attendance for Credit committee.
