Flex Wednesday
At New Tech, we dedicate every Wednesday to a special initiative called Flex Wednesday, designed to promote student voice and choice. On this day, students are empowered to create their own schedule by selecting from a wide variety of 45-minute flex classes offered by teachers. These classes fall into five distinct categories: Athletics, which include UIL or campus-sponsored competitive sports; Advocation, which covers clubs focused on hobbies and interests outside the traditional classroom; Academics, which support and extend core curriculum content through skill mastery and academic exploration; Leadership and Service, which encourage student leadership, community service, and civic engagement; and Visual and Performing Arts, which give students a platform to express and showcase their artistic talents. This structure allows for differentiated course offerings and meaningful enrichment opportunities while ensuring that every student is engaged in extracurricular activities. Flex Wednesday not only cultivates student interests but also fosters the development of essential life skills, encouraging a well-rounded and empowered student body.
